With the arrival of fall weather and coming winter months it’s a challenge to protect your skin and hair from damage from natural elements. Plan ahead for cold windy days by stocking your purse with basic products to protect your skin from damage.
Hand moisturizer
A tube of hand lotion in your purse will keep your hands and nails soft and supple despite the weather. Regular use of hand moisturizer . Cracked, dry hands and cuticles are painful and unattractive: and avoidable! Your skin loses moisture from the cold and wind and from hand washing. Frequent applications of hand lotion will help your skin retain moisture and avoid redness and cracking. Hand lotion can also be applied to your face and neck to keep your skin hydrated on the go.
For dry, fly away hair hand lotion makes a great emergency hair tamer. Simply rub a bit of lotion between your hands, then pat and smooth hour hands on your hair ends and roots to tame the flyaways.
Lip balm
In cold weather the sun and wind suck all the moisture out of your exposed lips. Keep your lips hydrated with a moisturizing lipstick or lip balm.
Dry heated air can also cause you to like your lips frequently, leaving your lips dry, chapped and cracked. Lip balm should be applied frequently whether inside or outside in the winter to keep your lips soft and supple.
If you have a cold and are frequently blowing your nose, your lip balm makes a convenient moisturizer around your nostrils.
Hat or earmuffs
Tuck a stocking cap or earmuffs in your bag so your fragile ears don’t get dry or patchy in harsh weather. Cold weather has even been known to damage hearing: your ears are often exposed to the weather and cold ears can be painful.
Tip: Many earmuffs with wire frames can easily and tightly wrap around your coat sleeve, so you always have a pair of earmuffs handy to protect your ears… and your hairstyle.
Sunglasses
Protect your eyes from bright glaring sun and wind in the cold weather months just as you do in the warm weather. Wind can dry out and damage your eyes when left unprotected, and the sensitive skin surrounding your eyes easily dries out and wrinkles.
Sunglasses protect your eyes and skin from cold, wind and bright winter sun. On windy days bits of debris and foliage can be in the air; sunglasses protect your eyes from soot or particles in the air.
What do you carry in your purse to protect your skin during cold weather?

On a cold day – especially a cold rainy day – nothing tastes better than a hot drink that warms you from the inside out. While you’re preparing a mug of your favorite hot sipping liquid, mix it up and try these drinks that are hot and healthy: and taste good too!
Tip: Whatever your favorite warm weather drink, I promise it will taste even better in your favorite mug!
Ginger Lemon Green Tea
I love the combined flavors of ginger and lemon, and enjoy the benefits of the antioxidants in ginger and lemon. Mixed with the superpowers of green tea, this tea is relaxing and nourishing. You can easily steep your hot green tea with a slice of fresh ginger and a wedge of lemon, or you can buy ready-made ginger lemon tea sachets and mix with green tea sachets. My favorite brand is Twinings Lemon and Ginger Herbal Tea, and I often enjoy it alone without green tea.
Hot Mulled Cider with Cranberries and Pomegranate Juice
Fall just begs for hot apple cider. I like to buy unsweetened, fresh apple cider buy the gallon, pour it in a mug with a tea strainer filled with mulling spices, and microwave it for 90 seconds so its hot and steamy. Adding a few frozen cranberries (which I store in the freezer for drinks year-round) and a splash of pomegranate juice adds an extra pop of flavor and a healthy boost of antioxidants.
When you’re expecting guests, a pot of hot mulled cider (or wine!) spiked with cranberries and pomegranate juice simmering on the stove smells delicious and inviting!
WebMD has a recipe for healthy mulled wine (wine is loaded with antioxidants!)that your holiday guests will love!
Tip: you can buy single-serving sachets of mulling spices for your cider or wine.
Apple Cider Vinegar Brew
I love apple cider, and I’m a huge vinegar fan: I splash balsamic on my salads and roasted vegetables, and grew up with a grandma who frequently ‘dosed’ me with a spoonful of apple cider vinegar. If you’re suffering from a cold or congestion, FitSugar has a recipe for a apple cider vineger brew to relieve your sore nose, help you breathe easier and boost your immune system.
Healthy(er) Hot Chocolate Drink
Cold weather just begs for hot chocolate! But a healthy mug of rich and creamy hot chocolate also adds unhealthy calories and sugars. Naturally Savvy suggests switching up your hot chocolate recipe by using organic raw dark cacao powder, honey or stevia, a dash of vanilla and cinnamon and the milk of your choice, such as coconut milk or almond milk.
Ginger, lemons, apple cider, vinegar, and pomegranate juice are loaded with antioxidants, vitamins, and nutrients with health boost effects.

Halloween is the one day a year when it is completely acceptable and even encouraged to diverge away from your every day look. Unfortunately, between the face paint, rubber masks, hair dye, sparkles and sweets, these Halloween essentials can take a toll on your skin and hair. Go all out! Have no fear! With these Skin Saving Solutions, you’ll be back to you in no time.
Solution 1: Remove the Mask
Concealing your identity can’t be achieved without a little (okay, a lot of) oil based face paint, heavy makeup, or a rubbery mask. As scary as you may appear on the outside, what’s going on underneath your disguise can be the scariest thing of all! To avoid clogging your pores, be sure to remove every last trace of your costume look before going to sleep. To save yourself from too much scrubbing, use an effective makeup remover to begin the process. Me 3in1 Face & Eye Makeup Remover PLUS Toner is made for you, whether you’re a ghost or a goblin, a witch or a queen! To not only remove impurities, but also rebalance the skin, give MHe a try.
Solution 2: Soothe & Calm
It can be tempting to dig into the deepest depths of your makeup collection to find the perfect shade of alien pink lipstick, but before you layer your face in makeup and face paint be sure to check the expiry dates! If there are no expiry dates in sight, always test a small area of the skin to see how you react. At the end of the day, despite your best efforts, you may find that your skin becomes irritated by all of the new and unfamiliar products. To soothe the skin, add some moisture to the mix by applying your favourite calming face mask.
Solution 3: Detox
Most of us have chanted, “Trick or Treat?” a time or two. Luckily, there are more treats then tricks on Halloween, but with tasty treats come sugar overloads and serious skin consequences! Purify your skin from the inside out, with a detoxifying drink. Whether it be flushing the system with healthy amounts of water, or putting on the kettle for a Herbal Tea Detox, your beauty from within will be radiating on the outside before you can say, “Boo!”
What’s your favorite skin saving solution?

If you are ready to live life the happiest you can be then these five tips will get you there! If you’re already doing some of these, then you are on the right track!
1) EXERCISE: We all know exercise can alter your mood and the way you feel about yourself drastically. The biggest challenge is to get motivated to get moving! The next time you need a pick-me-up, pick your favorite activity that will physically challenge you. You will not only feel amazing but your body will thank you for it!
2) CONNECT WITH OTHER WOMEN: Studies have shown that women live longer because they are more social than men. We think it has to do with being understood by our girlfriends! Women play so many roles and can only be understood by other women. It’s nice to be able to relate to people that have similar goals and troubles.
3) TAKING OUT TIME FOR THEMSELVES: Easier said than done right? I know, we all have busy schedules and sometimes we do end up putting ourselves last! Set the refresh button on your health and mind by taking some ‘Me Time’ out for you. It’s really not selfish; in fact, you will be more energized and happy to do the things that you need to!
4) KNOWING WHEN TO SAY YES: We all almost been put into situations that would require us to take a chance and get out of our comfort zone. We often just shy away from the situation and then wonder what it would have been like later. Happy women trust themselves and take ‘safe’ chances to see what they are really capable of. You may surprise yourself!
5) KNOWING WHEN TO SAY NO: Equating the word “NO” with disappointing others could be the reason why your hands are always tied. It’s okay to say no when you have too much on your plate.

Organization. Yes we know, our mother’s always talked about this one! It does help in the mornings and before bed though. Organizing your daily beauty products and puting them in a place where you would use them is the first step. Don’t Use It? Toss it! There’s no point in keeping old products that you don’t use.
Purchase multi-purpose products that can save you time and money. With less products to apply, you are bound to save a couple of minutes during your facial care regimen. Try Me MAXeffects naturals 3in1 Eye + Face Makeup Remover Plus Toner to cleanse and tone your face or use a BB Cream in place of a moisturizer and foundation.
Constantly on the go? Find travel sizes of your favorite products that you can take with you during a long day. Once you have a small cosmetic bag filled with your favorite travel size goodies you can touch up your makeup while on the go: cleanse your face after work before a workout or even reapply during longer more hectic days.
